Valheim reaches 1.0 as Guild Wars 2 puts its autumn on the board

Share

Iron Gate shipped Valheim 1.0 with the Deep North and a rewritten save system. ArenaNet dated every beat from the Visions of Eternity finale to Wintersday. Embark set an expiry on Arc Raiders' Cred currency, CCP disclosed a client exploit that read corporation wallet balances, and Paradox published tick-speed numbers for both Europa Universalis V and Crusader Kings III.

Valheim

  • Valheim · Coffee Stain Publishing

    Valheim 1.0 Has Arrived!

Valheim leaves early access with the Deep North biome, a Jotun invasion that plays out across the world, a grappling hook, snow that has to be cleared before you can build, achievements, and inventory upgrades bought from Haldor.

    • —Forty-plus weapons, ten-plus creatures, eighty-plus buildable pieces, four armour sets and two trinkets.
    • —World generation and the network traffic from terrain edits were both optimised, and the engine moved to a newer Unity.
    • —Ashlands had its enemy spawn chance cut, and mist removal was added to every Mistlands weapon.

    For your guild
The save system was rewritten to split world data across chunks, so less is serialised per write and a failure mid-write is survivable. If your group runs a long-lived shared world, read Iron Gate’s 1.0 FAQ on mods and existing saves before anyone loads it.

Guild Wars 2

  • Guild Wars 2 · ArenaNet

“Code of Creation” Concludes Visions of Eternity on September 15

The Visions of Eternity finale brings six story chapters, the Leyspring Hollows map, a ten-player raid encounter and the Solitary Throne fractal. ArenaNet dated everything after it out to Wintersday.

    • —Six story chapters, the Leyspring Hollows map, and the Nexus of Eternity as both a Convergence and a ten-player raid.
    • —A new fractal, Solitary Throne, takes groups of up to five.
    • —Challenge Modes for all three open on 29 September; the raid's Legendary Mode follows on 13 October.
    • —The roadmap runs to Wintersday on 8 December, with a skills-and-balance update and a WvW map beta on 10 November.

    For your guild
Depths of Cruelty runs on a three-hour cycle rather than the expansion’s two, and Shackles of the Ancients shifts five minutes earlier to stop the two colliding. Leyspring Hollows closes once its meta completes, and Challenge Modes are three weeks out.

Arc Raiders

  • Arc Raiders · Embark Studios

    Live Update 1.45.0

Expedition 5 opens alongside the Ascending the Mountain Raider Project. Embark is retiring the Cred currency ahead of the Frozen Trail update and moved the game from Unreal Engine 5.3 to 5.7.

    • —Expedition 5 opens alongside the Ascending the Mountain Raider Project.
    • —Cred is retired on 8 October; Raider Deck rewards carry into a new system and claimed rewards are kept.
    • —Unreal Engine moves from 5.3 to 5.7.
    • —Fixed a squad becoming stuck after a member signed out and rejoined, which had blocked ready-up entirely.

    For your guild
Cred stops being usable on 8 October and any balance expires with it, so tell members to spend down with Shani or on Raider Deck rewards. Starting an Expedition no longer wipes quests by default, which removes a reason to stagger departures.

EVE Online

  • EVE Online · CCP Games

EVE Online Security Update - 8 September, 2026

A modified client could read a recipient's wallet balance by donating to them. One player sent roughly a million 0 ISK donations across four accounts in six hours, snapshotting character and corporation balances. The hole was closed at downtime.

    • —Four accounts sent roughly a million separate 0 ISK donations over six hours on 4 September.
    • —Exposure was limited to character and corporation ISK balances, and for corporations to the master wallet only.
    • —PLEX balances, transaction history and account details were not exposed.
    • —The vulnerability was closed at the 8 September downtime.

    For your guild
For corporations the exposure was the master wallet, and CCP says the snapshots are probably already circulating. Check the journal for an incoming 0 ISK donation on 4 September, 15:00 to 21:00 UTC, from Mye Esubria, fxprobe1, fenriscw1 or Skiasten.

Monthly Economic Report - August 2026

CCP's economists report the summer slowdown easing, mining value recovering from the decline that started in May, the Mineral Price Index still falling and the Module Price Index down about 4% month on month.

    • —Mining value is recovering from the decline that began in May.
    • —The Mineral Price Index continues to fall, and the Module Price Index is down about 4% month on month.
    • —August's largest battle was fought in Pochven, at roughly 9,000 ships destroyed.

    For your guild
Falling mineral and module prices favour the buyer, so a corp that has put off restocking a doctrine fleet is buying into a softening market. August’s largest fight was in Pochven at roughly 9,000 ships destroyed, which is where demand comes from.

Old School RuneScape

  • Old School RuneScape · Jagex

    Game Status Information Centre

Jagex opened a manually updated status page listing live issues and scheduled work. It currently carries connection problems affecting world hopping, and upstream maintenance running city by city from 29 August to 24 September.

    • —Connection problems affecting various worlds and world hopping are still under investigation.
    • —Upstream maintenance runs city by city from 29 August to 24 September.
    • —Twelve September is the heavy day: seven cities, from Frankfurt at 00:00 UTC to Osaka at 13:00.
    • —Jagex updates the page by hand and says it may lag in evenings and at weekends.

    For your guild
The maintenance table is per city with times, so a clan spread across regions can tell whose ping suffers and when. The twelfth is the heavy day. Jagex updates the page by hand and says it may lag evenings and weekends, so treat it as a planning aid.

v1.0.4: Balance Adjustments & Bug Fixes

Two new sub-missions open at Mount Obsidian, fishing difficulty was retuned in Sunreach and the World Tree area, and admins gain a server setting that caps how many buildings each player may place in the world.

    • —Admins gain a server setting capping how many buildings each player may place in the world.
    • —Building is now blocked around the desert Field Boss Suzaku and some Sakurajima mission sites.
    • —Cancelling a build or a production job returns the materials to the inventory instead of dropping them.
    • —Version mismatch errors now name the version of the connection target.

    For your guild
The per-player building cap is the setting to reach for if one member’s base has been eating the server’s frame budget. Two co-op fixes land with it: joining players sometimes failed to enter the host’s guild, and a client could advance the host’s mission.

Monster Hunter Wilds

  • Monster Hunter Wilds · Capcom

Check out the first wave of intro videos for Monster Hunter Wilds: Ascendance!

Capcom is posting one Boosted Action breakdown a day until 15 September. The Boost Bracer temporarily enhances actions and unlocks Boost Drivers, and the expansion is scheduled for 2027.

    • —The Boost Bracer temporarily enhances certain actions and unlocks Boost Drivers.
    • —Seven weapon types have been shown so far, one breakdown a day until 15 September.
    • —Ascendance requires the base game and completion of the 7★ assignment Awaking From a Dream.

    For your guild
The buried line is the entry requirement: Ascendance needs the base game and the 7★ assignment Awaking From a Dream cleared. A hunting party with members who stopped short has a year to fix it, and those carries run easier now than in launch week.

Europa Universalis V

  • Europa Universalis V · Paradox Tinto

    Tinto Talks 123 - Campaign Timeline & 1.4 Performance

Update 1.4 adds a free campaign timeline that replays a save day by day with population, economic base and tax base charted, and marks the Black Death, the discovery of America, the Columbian Exchange and the Little Ice Age.

    • —The timeline replays a save day by day and charts population, economic base and tax base.
    • —It marks the Black Death, the discovery of America, the Columbian Exchange and the Little Ice Age.
    • —Paradox is aiming at ticks 40 to 50% faster than 1.3, largely from parallelising AI work.
    • —It ships free with update 1.4, not as part of the Across the Pillars expansion.

    For your guild
Paradox is aiming at ticks 40 to 50% faster than 1.3, and warns that the headline anecdotes came off high-end machines. For a group session the tick rate is the whole evening, since everyone waits on the slowest box.

Crusader Kings III

  • Crusader Kings III · Paradox Development Studio

"By God Alone" Dev Diary #6 - Performance

Meshes and illustrations now stream instead of loading at startup, cutting time to the main menu from 84 seconds to 16 on the team's slow test machine. Video memory is down by a third to a half and system memory by roughly a sixth a decade in.

    • —Streaming meshes and illustrations cut time to the main menu from 84 seconds to 16 on the team's slow test machine.
    • —Video memory is down by a third to a half depending on texture quality; system memory a decade in by roughly a sixth.
    • —AI decision-making accounts for a bit over a quarter of each simulated day.
    • —The day-to-day target is to MATCH the earlier Scribe patch, not to beat it.

    For your guild
Load time is the tax a co-op group pays every time someone rejoins, so it is worth more in multiplayer than solo. The honest part is the caveat: Paradox aims only to match the Scribe patch on day-to-day speed, and will not commit to a number this far out.

Hearts of Iron IV

  • Hearts of Iron IV · Paradox Development Studio

HOI IV Dev Corner | Industrial Might & Military Production

Paradox sketched Industrial Parks, a building tied to a corporation and to the state it sits in, producing only equipment matching its profile and drawing bonuses from local resources. The follow-up answers feedback on the earlier military production diary.

    • —Industrial Parks come in Military and Shipyard variants, each tied to a corporation.
    • —A park draws bonuses from the state it sits in, including cheaper production from locally sourced resources.
    • —Its factories form their own production sub-section, separate from the national pool.
    • —Names, systems, balance and art are all explicitly placeholder.

    For your guild
Nothing to plan around. No patch, no date, placeholder art, and the diary says twice that names, systems and balance will change. It matters as direction only: factory placement would become a decision rather than a pool.
