Systems that take a crew to run

Share

Rust restarts its power plant only for groups willing to keep it fed with fuses, PUBG starts rotating its gun meta on a four-month schedule with LMGs first, and Guild Wars 2 dates a third War Score beta that finally pays defenders. Battlefield 6 brings Wake Island back on August 18, and Old School RuneScape lets sailors fish from the deck.

Mark the calendar

  • Aug 11Conan Exiles Update 2.1.0 opens on the public beta client for about a week of testing.
  • Aug 11Guild Wars 2 WvW War Score Beta 3 begins, running to September 4.
  • Aug 14Sea of Thieves Bilge Rats Weekender runs through August 17.
  • Aug 18Battlefield 6 Top Gun update lands with Wake Island, Carrier Strike, and two new jets.
  • Aug 20Sea of Thieves August game update lands; the Big Ship, Little Ship server trial runs through August 24.
  • Sep 4ARK: Survival Ascended Genesis Part 1 transfers open on official servers.
  • Sep 18ARK: Survival Ascended Genesis Part 1 Expires servers close. Everything left behind is lost.

Keeping the lights on

  • Rust · Facepunch Studios

    POWER TRIP

Facepunch's Player Maintained Monuments update lets heavy fuses restart the power plant, which in turn powers roadside lines, a supermarket freezer, oil pumping to Dome, and a satellite-crash loot event visible to the whole server.

    For your guild
Every new system here runs on bodies. A group that claims the power plant controls recycler efficiency for the whole island, and the satellite crash tells every player on the server where the loot fell, so plan to fight over it rather than sneak it.

  • ARK: Survival Ascended · Studio Wildcard

Community Crunch 518: Long Live the King!

Community Crunch 518 opens with Giganotosaurus TLC concept art, dates Genesis Part 1 transfers for September 4 with the Expires servers closing September 18, and runs bonus official rates through August 10.

    For your guild
The dates are the job. A tribe on Genesis Expires servers has September 4 to 18 to move creatures and items off, and the bonus rates through August 10 make this the weekend to schedule taming and breeding.

  • Conan Exiles · Funcom

Conan Exiles Enhanced Community Update - August

The August community update recaps patch 2.0.0's Cyclopean Halls dungeon and legendary repair system, and dates update 2.1.0 for the public beta client on August 11, with test servers up for about seven days.

    For your guild
Put one officer on the beta client that week. Seven days is enough to learn what 2.1.0 changes before it reaches your live server, and Funcom reads the bug reports while the test is open.

  • DayZ · Bohemia Interactive

DayZ Badlands | Dev Blog (Week 79) | Wishlist now!

Dev Blog 6 for the Badlands expansion covers dust effects and the Lee-Enfield rifle. Footsteps now shake dust from ceilings onto anyone below, and Bohemia says the release window is a few months away.

    For your guild
The ceiling dust is a stealth mechanic in a graphics update's clothes. Clearing an upper floor in Nasdara will announce you to whoever is underneath. Nothing to schedule yet; the window is still a few months out.

The armoury

  • Battlefield 6 · Electronic Arts

Battlefield 6 - Community Update - Top Gun Incoming

The Top Gun update lands August 18 with a naval rework of Wake Island, a Carrier Strike mode that ends in an assault inside the enemy vessel, two two-seat jets, the Interdictor sniper rifle, and an optional ADS dispersion crosshair.

    For your guild
Carrier Strike and the two-seat jets both reward pre-arranged squads, so sort pilot and gunner pairs before the 18th. The dispersion crosshair is a free training aid for newer players in the Firing Range.

  • PUBG: Battlegrounds · KRAFTON

[Dev Letter] A New Era of Gunplay: Meta Rotation

KRAFTON will rotate the weapon meta roughly every four months instead of drip-balancing. LMGs go first this August: reloads cut by about a quarter, horizontal recoil down up to 30 percent, and a new 7.62mm RPD with a 50-round magazine.

    For your guild
Suppressive fire becomes a real role this cycle. A squad that drills an LMG carrier now gets four months of advantage before the meta rotates again in December, and the fixed schedule gives loadout practice a season structure.

  • Counter-Strike 2 · Valve

    Counter-Strike 2 Update

The August 3 update fixes grenades thrown through level geometry, patches gaps and collision across Cache, removes a boost spot outside Cache's A site, and updates Shelter to its latest Workshop version.

    For your guild
If Cache is in your practice pool, re-walk it before the next match. The removed boost outside A and the collision fixes will quietly kill setups your team has drilled.

Rules of engagement

  • Guild Wars 2 · ArenaNet

WvW War Score: Beta 2 Results and What’s Next

Beta 2's numbers put objective captures near 30 percent of War Score and player kills near 25. Beta 3 runs August 11 to September 4, removes points for guard kills, and boosts points for defensive kills around objectives.

    For your guild
Re-brief your squads before August 11. Fights near your own objectives will score, farming guards will not, and the return of placement-based rewards means match standing matters again.

  • Gloria Victis · gamigo

State of War Q&A, Siege Tent adjustments

A Q&A pins down State of War's rules: one attack and one defence per guild per day, cross-region challenges allowed, rosters picked by the guild leader, and island settings frozen once a battle is scheduled against you.

    For your guild
Roster selection is the guild leader's problem now, so decide your battle lineup before challenges start arriving. Set your island's loot zone deliberately; once a battle is scheduled, changes wait until it is over.

Out on the water

  • Old School RuneScape · Jagex

    Wyrmscraig & Sailing Changes

The August 5 update adds fishing from your boat at fixed 5x5 spots, and reworks the permanent Deadman world with hourly chests that need 250,000 gold of risked value to open, tradeable emblems, and no more bank losses on death.

    For your guild
The Deadman chests are a schedulable fight: hourly spawns, a 250,000 gold entry stake, and Ancient Warrior armour worth contesting. A PK clan can treat them like a boss timer and show up in force every hour.

  • Sea of Thieves · Xbox Game Studios

This Month in Sea of Thieves: August 2026

August's calendar adds Emissaries of Fortune as a weekly Wednesday event, a Bilge Rats Weekender from the 14th, the final Season 20 update on the 20th, and a trial that sorts sloops and big ships onto separate servers through the 24th.

    For your guild
Big Ship, Little Ship is the one to plan around. A full galleon crew fights only crews its own size from August 20 to 24, which makes that window the week to schedule your most competitive nights.

  • Path of Exile 2 · Grinding Gear Games

Path of Exile 1: Curse of the Allflame Improvements

Grinding Gear buffed Path of Exile 1's Curse of the Allflame league: Abyss elites pay out more, Crystals of Permutations now charge up to three times, and next week six Cursed Ducats add socketed difficulty modifiers to Voyages.

    For your guild
A mid-league buff pass is aimed at lapsed players. If half your guild dropped the league early, next week's Cursed Ducats patch is the moment to rally them back, with difficulty they can tune to the squad online.
