Offworld Industries announced Squad for Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5, with a free PS5 technical alpha from October 16 to 25. Steam players can claim a five-skin USMC weapon pack free until the alpha ends.

Claim the free skin pack before the 25th. PS5 players in your community can try Squad at no cost this week; the post does not say whether console and PC will play together, so do not plan mixed squads yet.
The Community Development Team's progress report puts a Party System in the next update, with in-game hubs called Companies to follow.

Offworld rebuilt suppression for update 10.5.2. It decays faster, covers a smaller radius, ignores stray rounds that were never a threat, and is rebalanced by weapon so a lone rifleman suppresses poorly while a fireteam still does it well.

This pays squads that put fire on one point together and punishes the solo shooter spraying from a flank. Re-drill your fireteams before the next scheduled match, and expect close-quarters fights to turn less on who was suppressed first.
