No. 8 · Week of September 14, 2026
BlizzCon set the dates this week. World of Warcraft: Forever launches on November 4, Overwatch moves Sombra to Support when Season 5 lands on October 6, and Diablo V is put at Spring 2029. EVE Online's Cradle of War update arrives on 22 September, closing Ansiblex jump bridges to everyone outside the owning alliance, and Stellaris 4.5 breaks saves the same day.
Blizzard announced World of Warcraft: Forever, a full new game set in a reimagined original Azeroth that sits alongside modern and Classic WoW. It launches November 4, and the beta began September 17.
For your guild
Early Name Reservation comes only with a paid pack, so a guild that wants a particular name should agree who holds it before November 4. The round-up says nothing about realms or server structure, so there is no roster plan to make yet.
Blizzard used the BlizzCon 2026 opening ceremony to announce Diablo V for Spring 2029, an Amazon class pack for Diablo IV in 2027, an animated Diablo series with Netflix, and Diablo IV on Nintendo Switch 2.
For your guild
Nothing to schedule yet. The Amazon carries only a first-half-of-2027 window, with class pack details promised later, and Diablo V is three years out. The Switch 2 release is out now, but the post does not say whether it plays across platforms.
Season of Hell's Legacy is live. A questline led by Deckard Cain sends players into Waking Nightmares rebuilt from earlier Diablo games to collect three Splinters of Evil. The base game is free on Steam to level 30 until 21 September.
For your guild
A group that farms one activity together should agree on a Splinter, since each buffs a different pair of endgame activities and changing it means another run of the largest Waking Nightmares. The free window is the week to bring in a friend.
Blizzard revealed Doctrine, a Support hero and ally of Doomfist, as Overwatch's Hero 54, along with a new Escort map and reworks for Sombra and Roadhog. Season 5 closes the Reign of Talon arc.
For your guild
Sombra moving to Support changes who fills which role slot, so hold scrim role assignments until Season 5 lands on October 6. The post gives no detail on either rework. Tell members the Mythic Voucher lapses on October 5.
Blizzard's panel recap covers Warcraft III Reforged: Forsaken Kingdom, available now, and Patch 3.0, which adds a Definitive Edition graphics mode for all Warcraft III: Reforged players and a new Tavern hero.
For your guild
The hero and the graphics mode reach everyone who owns Reforged at no cost, so a ladder group can re-test Tavern picks together. The paid part is a single-player campaign, so it moves no team plan.
Blizzard announced STARCRAFT, an original open-world shooter set in the Koprulu Sector, for Spring 2030. The opening ceremony recap gives it one short paragraph and no further detail.
For your guild
Nothing to plan around. Spring 2030 is years out and the recap says nothing about StarCraft II, so there is nothing for a ladder team to re-test or reschedule.
The Cradle of War major update lands on 22 September. Ansiblex jump bridges gain a capacitor that drains per ship and costs more the further the destination sits from the owning alliance's capital, and only that alliance may use them.
For your guild
If your fleets ride a coalition partner's bridges, that route closes on 22 September. Plan staging against your own capital before then, since outbound jumps cost more than the trip home, and lighter hulls will move through a busy network more cheaply.
Update 1.5 adds a full single-player mode, detailed rule settings for self-hosted servers, the end of the Book One story and a PvE route through every system. Consoles have a head start now and a full launch on 22 September.
For your guild
A guild can now run its own 40-slot world under its own rules, but moving an official character there is one way, so decide as a group before anyone transfers. Cross-play is not in at console launch, so console recruits cannot join a PC roster yet.
Season 21 removes on-demand World Event Raid Voyages for good and, as a season-long experiment, takes 'Dive To' off every Voyage and Tall Tale. Custom Seas gains saved Layouts, a silver editor and ship damage switches.
For your guild
With diving off, every Voyage starts with a sail, so budget longer sessions. Layouts make a guild event night repeatable: build the course once, save it, and load it again next week without placing a single item.
Update 1.30 is on Experimental as the first stage of the Badlands expansion, which Bohemia dates for 15 October. It brings two motorbikes with new two-wheeled physics, more than 150 redrawn inventory icons and reworked infected attacks.
For your guild
Community server owners have four weeks to learn which animation mods break before Badlands arrives on 15 October. Run the modlist against Experimental now, while a failure costs an evening and not a launch weekend.
The 4.5 'Cygnus' open beta is closing and the update is expected on Tuesday 22 September. Pop groups are no longer split by ethics or faction, a change Paradox flags in capitals as breaking save compatibility.
For your guild
Paradox expects 4.5 on Tuesday 22 September and saves will not carry, so finish a multiplayer campaign this weekend or agree as a group to start fresh on the new version. The desync fixes are the reason to move.
The second and last day of the open Launch Scale Test ran on 18 September on Steam and PURPLE, with no keys or sign-up. All progress is wiped afterwards and nothing carries to Advanced Access, which opens on 30 September.
For your guild
The one task before 30 September is on Steam. Tell members to uninstall the Playtest app and install the full client, which is a separate download, or they will spend the start of Advanced Access waiting on it.
